About the Author

Robert H. Taylor is professor of politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He has taught at Wilberforce University in the United States and the University of Sydney, Australia. During 1978 and 1982, he conducted research at Rangoon University. He is the author of The State of Burma (1987) and Marxism and Resistance in Burma, 1942-1945: Thein Pe Myint’s “Wartime Traveler” (1984).
